At IFA 2016, Lenovo announced a new laptop device that will run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and comes with some unique features. Perhaps the most stunning departure from traditional laptop design is the pseudo-digital keyboard that Lenovo calls the Halo keyboard. TalkAndroid recently received the Lenovo Yoga Book for testing and our own Justin Herrick put together an unboxing video that gives us our first look at this one of a kind laptop.
As noted in the video, the Lenovo Yoga Book's physical features will be familiar to users who have used other Lenovo devices, especially the hinge that allows the screen to fold back on the keyboard to enable use as a tablet. The laptop is also quite thin, which should help with portability.
One part that will not be familiar though is the Halo keyboard. As shown in the video, the keyboard is basically a flat slate of material. When activated, the keys are displayed on this slate electronically. In order to help users adjust to this new, non-mechanical keyboard, Lenovo did build in haptic feedback features. We will have to wait for the review video to see just how all of this works and whether it is an effective solution.
Besides the new Halo keyboard, the Lenovo Yoga Book also comes with a pad of paper. It is not special paper, just a starter pack courtesy of Lenovo. Why is the pad of paper included? Lenovo built in features in their stylus so that it can be used as a regular pen on paper with whatever is drawn or written transferred to an electronic copy on the Yoga Book.
Check out the video below and be sure to check back for our full review of the Lenovo Yoga Book.
