Acer announces Chromebook R 13 complete with 360-degree swivel display

On Wednesday at IFA 2016, Acer announced the follow-up to it's highly praised Chromebook R 11: the Chromebook R 13, complete with up to 12 hours of battery and a 360-degree swiveling touchscreen.

The Chromebook R 13 comes with a 13.3-inch LED-backlit LCD display running at a resolution of 1920×1080 that integrates 10-point touch capabilities for all the tapping, swiping, and pinch-to-zooming gestures you want. A 720p front-facing webcam complete with an integrated microphone and HD audio output should help bring your video chats to life.

Powering the Chromebook R 13 is a MediaTek M8173C CorePilot quad-core processor and 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM. A USB Type-C port is also included as well as connections for USB 3.0, HDMI and a standard headphone jack. Also worth noting is that Acer plans to support Android apps via the Google Play Store.

One of the most interesting features of Acer's Chromebook line is the 360-degree hinged display that can be folded into several configurations depending on the task at hand. Whether it's using the Chromebook as a standard laptop or tablet, or even folding the display to stand up on a surface, the R 13 is ready for the job.

The Chromebook R 13 will be available in North America sometime in October with a starting price of $399 and EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) markets at EUR 399. Are you excited for this new addition to the Chromebook line?
