Earlier this year Sony announced they were consolidating and transitioning their smartphone product line to settle on the new X series of devices. Since releasing the original Sony Xperia X the company has been expanding the portfolio of choices for consumers. A new image shared by Twitter tipster Evan Blass, @evleaks, reveals yet another device in the lineup, this one aimed at buyers who are interested in a smaller device.
The image posted by Blass is of a Sony Xperia X Compact. The new device is expected to come equipped with a 4.6-inch screen and will follow the path of the old Z line of devices of having a compact version available. Other specs for the Xperia X Compact are unknown at present. They may start to surface in the next few days and the odds seem pretty good that Sony could officially reveal the device at IFA 2016.

Earlier this summer Sony revealed some positive financial results for their mobile division. They attributed at least part of the success to a strategic decision to focus on the high-end segment and start moving out of the mid-tier market. This may bode well for the Xperia X Compact coming in a small package but with a decent set of hardware. All too often buyers of smaller devices find themselves having to settle for less than top-end hardware.
Are you interested in seeing flagship level devices made available in smaller form factors like the Xperia X Compact?

It’s amazing that Sony has no competition in high-end small phones. Not phablets, but the kind people actually want.
And it’s a disgrace that the sheep-like manufacturers refuse to make smaller, quality phones >:-(
