If you're a Nexus 7 owner, the euphoria of having Android 5.0 Lollipop installed on your device probably fizzled out a few months ago, thanks to the buggy performance of the update. Nexus 7 owners have reported problems with WiFi connectivity, video playback, battery life and that their devices are getting slower and slower thanks to a probable memory leak. According to a Google Plus post by Artem Russakovskii (Android Police), though, there might cause for renewed hope, with Android 5.1 rumoured to roll out in the next week or so.
That's right, apparently Android 5.1 Lollipop will begin rolling out this week, with the Nexus 7 (2013) being the most likely ‘first' recipient of the update. The rest of the Nexus line-up should receive the update soon after. One of the features of Android 5.1 is that it should improve the performance of the device, making things buttery smooth once more. There is a chance that this update could be delayed as Google is said to be ironing out some battery life bugs. Here's hoping that Google can stamp out those gremlins so that the 5.1 update can roll out sooner than later.
