New Amazon App “Surprise!” Released On Play Store

Amazon is courting your favor for this holiday season, as it has just released a new app entitled “Surprise! by Amazon” for those of us who prefer to send gift cards as our primary means of gift-giving.

The app will allow the user to incorporate personal calendars and contacts, like from Facebook. Amazon is calling this the Occasion Timeline.

Users of the app will also be able to customize their gift cards with pictures, video and even a handwritten signatures. On top of that, users can “wrap” the gift card, animating it with a custom reveal.

Please note that you must be using an Android 4.0+ phone or tablet for this app to work.

Amazon made record sales during the last holiday season, with The Guardian reporting that the figure was around $21 billion dollars. Amazon not wanting to lose traction this holiday is most likely hoping Surprise! will pull in some new business along with its repeat customers.
