Google is in the process of pushing out a new version of the Play Store app for Android devices according to Google UI engineer Kirill Grouchnikov. Coming from someone on the UI side of development, Grouchnikov naturally focuses on the interface changes which is headlined by a full-height drawer that pulls out from the left. This means Google's Play Store app no longer needs a “hamburger” icon to access some features.
The refresh to the interface also brings real-time card shadows to devices running Android Lollipop. The update makes visuals and scrolling more consistent in the My Apps portion and Google added a My Account page that appears to give users access to their purchase history. Grouchnikov says there are other improvements included in the update and challenges users to find them on their own.
The update takes the Play Store app up to version 5.1.
