Earlier today we learned that Qualcomm was making available a new smartphone for developers to use as a reference platform based on the forthcoming Snapdragon 810 processor. It turns out the smartphone is not the only form factor getting this treatment from Qualcomm. The company is also making available the MDP/T which is a 10.1-inch tablet powered by the Snapdragon 810.

Qualcomm not only put in their next top of the line processor in this new tablet, they loaded it up with some other nice hardware. The 10.1-inch display is a 4K display running at 3840 x 2160 resolution and supports 10-finger multi-touch. The tablet also has 4GB of DDR4 RAM and 64GB of internal memory. The rear camera is a 13 MP sensor with optical image stabilization and the front-facing camera is a 4 MP sensor. The tablet has front-facing speakers, ultrasound emitters for gesture support, and a 7560 mAh battery. According to Qualcomm, the device will come with the “latest available Android OS.”

Qualcomm is making the MDP/T available for $999.00 with shipping expected by mid-December. If you are willing to drop some serious money for a cutting edge tablet, hit the source link for more information on how to place your order.

  1. Hopefully in 1.5 years (my next planned Tablet upgrade), such a device will be generally available but it must have an AMOLED screen even at a lower resolution. Playing with a Samsung Tab S 10.5 has set the bar making IPS and it’s inherent light bleed dead to me. I do not even care for 64GB internal storage if the tablet includes a microSD card reader.
