Since Apple finally decided to get into the mobile payments space, competition has been heating up to get consumers to switch away from traditional debit and credit cards. In an effort to entice buyers to set up and make more use of their Google Wallet accounts, Google has launched a special “Buy with Google” promotion just in time for the holiday shopping season. Special deals are being offered to users who make a purchase using a vendor's Android app and selecting “Buy with Google” to access their Google Wallet account when they checkout.

Google currently has 14 vendors lined up to participate in this special program. The deals vary by company ranging from a 5% discount for purchases made through the B&H Photo Video app to $15 off a purchase of $50 or more through Newegg Mobile. If you are thinking about participating in the Uber boycott, Sidecar Ride is offering $20 in Sidecar credits if you use Google Wallet to pay. Other companies involved in the promotion include Beautylish, CheapTickets, Expedia, Eat24, Fancy, JackThreads, LivingSocial, Pose, Rue La La, Vinted, and Wish.

Be sure to read the fine print when checking out the deals. Many of them are limited to the U.S. only and have a variety of requirements or caps on them. Still, if you were planning on making a purchase through any of these companies, it may be worth using Google Wallet to place your order.

Hit the link to the Google Play Store below if you want to check out the deals.

  1. Dear Jeff,

Thank you very much for this article. I’m
a web marketing consultant working for a B2B Google Partner organization. One
of our clients —a Costa-Rica-based, car rental company- may wish to create
Google Wallet discount offers for American tourists traveling to Costa Rica.
The idea would be for Americans to purchase the coupons at home and redeem them
once they are abroad. My question is: would Google Wallet support such flow of
service? I know it reads as a basic question that Google’s support team may very well have an answer for but I just couldn’t find anything out there. I also talked to a Google Support representative and he didn’t have an answer either. I’m hoping you may have access to information sources that can help me.

    Thanks in advance!
