google-plus-graveyard-600If you've made a Gmail account, you know the struggle of having to sign up for Google Plus against your will in order to use any of the neat features that come with a Google account.

Thankfully, that annoying restriction is on the way out. Now you can create a new Google account in order to further compartmentalize your online presence without making ANOTHER Google Plus account. Unfortunately, if you want to use YouTube or leave reviews on Google Play, or set up your Android phone, you will still need to set up an account on Google's fading social media site.

While this will add some convenience to setting up a spam-catching email account, it does signal the end of a very short era. With Google no longer pushing Google Plus as hard as it used to the site can start to shrink even more. There are already hints that Google is done with G+, and this news hardly quells the rumors.

  1. I disagree about the G+ fading. It depends on how many people you have in circles as on any other social network for that matter. My timeline on G+ is quite active with very good content. I would say that Google is done with forcing people to try the platform as there is enough people to get it working.

But the real truth is that users were complaining that they have multiple accounts and using only one.

    1. I agree. Google Plus is not going anywhere. Ever time I write comments on a review my comments appear on G+ and though the app I can easily respond to responses to my comments. G+ just has a different purpose than Facebook. It is more open, it posts stuff in a decentralized way though public pages and Youtube rather than forcing you to post onto a single place. The fact that registration is not compulsory anymore shows that G+ integration with Android, YouTube and Google Play is much more important than Gmail… Who doesn’t use an Android device or YouTube anyways…? Android is winning and therefore g+ is automatically becoming more active. There is no stopping it. Pathetic articles like these ones just show how far Google Plus has come. I myself find that Facebook has become junk. I only receive candy crush invites and spam on Facebook and rarely go there anymore.
