Sling has announced the addition of support for Chromecast for owners of the Slingbox M1, 350 and SlingTV/500 via their Slingplayer app. For now, the updated app includes this feature in the iPhone, iPad and Android phone versions, although Sling indicates they will have support for Android tablets rolling out soon. Sling already supports other video streaming devices, like Roku and Apple TV.

Using the Slingplayer app, users can watch any live or recorded programming from their Slingbox. Like other Chromecast enabled apps, users will be able to control what is being viewed by using their smartphone as a remote. Sling points out that with the low price point for a Chromecast, this update represents a cost effective way for users to watch Sling content on multiple TVs in their home without having to add more than one set-top box to their network. Users can also watch their content when on the road using a large screen TV instead of being limited to their mobile devices.

Slings says support for Chromecast has been one of the most frequently cited features requested by their customers. If you have a Slingbox, you can use the download link below to get the Slingplayer app if you haven't already grabbed it. The update may not yet be available for your account, so check back if you don't see any information about support for Chromecast.
