Yesterday, Facebook launched Slingshot, its own version of Snapchat, in an effort to try to steal back some of the market share it has lost to various social startups in the past few months.

But Snapchat was prepared, and launched a new feature to its own app yesterday as well, to try to combat Facebook's efforts. The feature is called “Our Story,” and does not require an update to the app.

The feature lets users string together their own “My Story”(ies) together into one big “Our Story,” to create a more social sharing experience.

Now, Snapchatters who are at the same event/location can create a Story, submit it to “Our Story,” and will find his/her Snapchat among a number of other Snapchats from users of the same/nearby location.

To launch the feature, Snapchat is making it available for the first time at Electric Daily Carnival (an electronic dance music festival, for those of you who don't know). If you're there, simply add a Snap to “Our EDC Story” that will automatically appear in your “Send to…” page. Of course your location services will have to be on so Snapchat knows you're there and will activate the feature for you.
