If you've been following the Flappy Bird saga you'll know that the frustratingly difficult but oh-so-simple game is gone. Citing addiction as the motive behind taking the game down, the developer, Dong Nguyen, left most people to wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat suffering from withdrawals. Of course, I exaggerate, but this move sparked a slew of Craig's List ads charging anywhere from 1,000 to 90,000 dollars for a device with the game on it. However, thanks to the work of over 174 different indie-developers, you may not have to sell one of your kidneys just yet to score one of these overpriced gadgets.
The Flappy Jam project, as it's called, isn't a move to just create clones of the popular game, but rather, a way to create a simple yet mind-numbingly difficult game that pays homage to the 8-bit games of yesteryear.

The project boasts 174 different games that range from the Doge meme to those of a reproductive nature. Others have taken the idea and added their own spin. For instance, some developers, have created 3D versions of the game while others are using different control schemes.
If you want to submit a similar game to the project you have until February 24. There are a few simple rules to submitting, those being to make the game that's almost “unplayable” in terms of difficulty that are inspired from the classics.
So with that, if you're needing a Flappy Bird fix you have damn near 200 games to choose from. While Flappy Bird may not be with us any longer, its memory will forever live on thanks to these developers. Have any of you tried one of these yet? If so, which one keeps your attention? Let us know!
