A few days ago, Samsung teased that its “next big thing” was coming soon. Well, it's here, but it's a little underwhelming for anyone outside of Taiwan; the big news today is that Samsung's Galaxy J will officially be available in Taiwan at some point in the near future. It's the same phone we saw them release in Japan just a few months ago, so no improved specs or anything outside of specific radios for Taiwan's networks.

That's not to say the Galaxy J is a slouch, as it's pretty much a hybrid of the Galaxy S 4 and Note 3 without there's no S Pen. The processor is a very capable quad-core Snapdragon 800 with 3 GB of RAM, a 1080p display, and 32 GB of internal storage. The rear 13 megapixel camera is capable of shooting 4K video, and you'll get Android 4.3 and the suite of Samsung apps and overlays. Overall, it's a Galaxy S 4 on steroids with similar aesthetics to the Note 3.

If you live in Taiwan, this would be a great device to consider picking up. However, there's no word on pricing yet, and with the Galaxy S 5 bound to be announced in just a few months, this interim device may not see sales numbers like its bigger brothers.
