We always knew questions like this were going to eventually come up as the technology used in Google Glass became more and more prominent— in a Reddit AMA session (Ask Me Anything) on Friday, Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey was asked, “Do you think Google Glass could ever be integrated into live games, for example by having the officials wear them and letting the TV audience see what they saw?”
Morey, an MIT grad, was definitely interested in the idea, and even told the Redditor to ask Adam Silver, who will be stepping in as the NBA's next commissioner come February.
Now the actual chance of something like this actually happening is very low, as some professional sports leagues are still getting used to the idea of something as low-tech as instant replay (MLB). It may be a welcome change somewhere way, way, way down the road, but don't expect anything anytime soon. Just a nice idea for now…

It wouldn’t need to be used for replay. It could be used to show referee incompetence or even prove bribery by showing patterns in after game reviews. It could also be used for training, such as teaching an official that they should not call a foul when players’ bodies block their view and they are just making an assumption of what happened.
I quit watching the NBA because the officiating was so bad. Too many games were decided by the officiating. If Google Glass could help improve things, it could help the league overall.
I agree it would definitely help, but getting the union to agree to these kinds of things is certainly a different story.
For a union to have power, it has to have a group of well trained employees. So not a problem. ;-)
Seriously, if push came to shove I really doubt there would be the kind of outrage over replacing NBA refs that there was over replacing the NFL refs. It would be sort of like the old joke about the husband that didn’t report his wife’s credit card stolen, because the thief was spending less than his wife. The fans might find the replacement refs an improvement.
