Samsung to release overpowered quad-core flip phone in China 5

You can't say Samsung isn't innovative. Between that shiny new Nexus 10 tablet and record-shattering smartphone sales, Samsung has found a way to successfully  stay ahead of every other Android OEM. That's not to say that Samsung won't have a few crazy moments here or there…

A new Samsung flip phone (yes, flip phone) has been spotted in China, packing some serious hardware that puts some newer phones to shame. Best of all, it's supposedly going to run Android 4.0. Sound crazy? I agree. Just look at what the Samsung SCH-W2013 has for specs after the break:

  • 3.3 inch AMOLED display at 800 x 480
  • 1.4 GHz Exynos 4412 quad-core processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • microSD card support
  • Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0
  • 8 megapixel rear-facing camera
  • 2 megapixel front-facing camera
  • Android 4.0 ICS (though could be upgraded before launch)

I suppose I could see this hitting a really niche market of consumers that are coming from a basic flip-phone, but don't want the full smartphone experience for whatever reason. It's not a phone I would personally use, but we're all fans of choice here, right?

The phone does come in weighing a bit on the thick side at 17mm. But, for a flip phone that can do what this thing can do, I seriously doubt anyone would complain about the weight. If my old RAZR could've done half of what this phone can do, I wouldn't have had a problem with a little extra bulk.

What do you guys think? Would you consider using a flip phone again if it could play Bad Piggies?
