HTC doesn't need to hit the panic button just yet— but it's coming awfully close to doing so. Following HTC's well-publicized 2nd quarter disappointment which has led it to do such things such as hightail it out of Korea, it announced its July 2012 earnings… which appear to add to the massive bleeding. HTC's unaudited consolidate revenues for July were NT$25 billion (roughly $835 million USD) and down 45 percent from July 2011. In addition, the July revenues were down aroundNT$5 billion (roughly $168 million) from HTC's May revenues.
Looks like those Samsung Galaxy S III sales are having a bigger impact than we could have ever imagined. Hopefully HTC's renewed marketing strategy will help it rebound sooner than later.

HTC have dug their own grave. I don’t care how nice it is I won’t give HTC another penny of my hard earned money. The fact that they could abandon their tablets like they did after less than a year is proof that HTC will turn their backs on their consumers any chance they can. We aren’t exactly asking for ICS or Jellybean (Even though independant devs are well on their way to giving us both) all we want is a WORKING version of Honeycomb. Their update broke so much on this tablet that a bunch of Flyer and Evo View 4G users have gone back to Gingerbread.
Does HTC really think withholding a working Honeycomb or even ICS will have us running to wait in line for their next tablet??
Do the right thing HTC, some good PR would probably feel good to you right about now.
Well there is also the fact that consumers didn’t like having no access to the battery and ability to put in an SDCard to expand memory. Those were two major issues people had with the One X ( Yes I know they still sold well but would have sold a LOT better had they not followed the iPhone design there ). I would have even thought of getting one had that not been the case, instead I went with the GSIII and I do not regret it for a moment.
The other thing was, over the past couple of years. The Evo4G was neglected severely ( I owned one previously for two years ), the devices released within that time frame were not worthy upgrades either from the Evo4G. They didn’t offer anything of major difference to warrant trying to upgrade in mid-contract. That hurt them there as well. There are quite a few more reasons why they are hurting to be sure.
HTC used to not put out a phone every other month or so, they used to be focused on making a Low End, Midline and High End device of such quality that people switched carriers to get it. The Evo4G was such a device. The One X is nice, but too restrictive. I can take my GSIII up to 64GB with a single SDCard, you’d have to buy a new device to do that from the One X.
If the battery ever does go bad for any reason, you’re stuck taking it to a local carrier store or having it sent off and or replaced. Then they had issues on certain carriers with the unlocking. That got cleared away though if I remember correctly. My issue was how they treated me with my Evo4G, which was why I rooted it to begin with. Had they updated it better than they did and treat their Evo4G owners with a bit more respect, maybe I wouldn’t have switched. The Evo 4G LTE is nothing but the One X with less restrictions and slightly different look. I’d been happy with that, but I don’t trust them to keep it updated.
Stupid HTC to blame their unlock warranty policy and their bad QC.
Should learn to respect public and devs from samsung. BTW, i have one x right now..
