Featured Android App Review: FxGuru – Movie FX Director [Entertainment]

Want to be a movie director utilizing big time special effects that you can only find in big budget movies? Then you need to check out FxGuru: Movie FX Director from Picadelic. I guarantee you that if you download this app you will be the life of the party or you next friendly gathering.

You can film your house with UFOs flying above it or maybe your friend’s house with a satellite crashing on their front lawn. You would think this would be complicated, but you can have a video ready for sharing in less than a minute. All you have to do is make sure there is a decent amount of light, pick your effect, and film the location. The app guides you during the filming process so that you know where the effects will take place. You’re only going to shoot for about 15 seconds, so it doesn’t take long to make a pretty polished video.

There are a number of effects that include a Satellite Crash, Holiday Bot, UFO Shuttle, TNT Barrel, Meteor Impact, UFO Invasion, Molotov Cocktail, Grenade, Building Demolition, Mech Attack, UFO Arrival, Alien Probe, Flame Thrower, UFO Calling, Rocket Launcher, Cruise Missiles, and a Bunker Buster. The possibilities are endless: destroy parked cars, have a crash landing in a pool, or UFO’s in the sky while you are sightseeing. Now at first I was skeptical in that I figured the effects would be cheesy and wouldn’t blend in well. I was dead wrong. Picadelic put together some really nice high quality effects. They simply look stunning.

Filming is quite easy. All you have to do is pick the effect and shoot your video. When shooting your video, you want to make sure there is a decent amount of light. FxGuru will give you a red overlay to show you where the effect will take place so that you can make sure everything is aligned. Most videos will be between 10 and 20 seconds. After your done filming, you can either cancel or proceed to rendering. It will take a few seconds to render the video, which is combining your video and the effects. After completion, you will be able to watch your video to see how it looks. From there you can share it to YouTube, email, Facebook, Gmail, Dropbox, Google+, Picasa, and more. You will be able to see your finished videos from within the app or from your gallery.

It’s totally a blast and I guarantee you that you will have a lot of fun with this one. FxGuru is free to try. You will get Satellite Crash, Holiday Bot, and UFO Shuttle for Free. You can also grab TNT Barrel for Free by simply sharing on Facebook. The remaining 13 effects are $8.99. Yes, it is one of the more expensive apps out there, but you can try out 4 effects to see if they will be worth your hard earned money. If you find that you’re as impressed as I am, the $8.99 won’t seem so high. Again it’s Free to try so give it a shot and surprise your friend with a satellite crashing on their front lawn or a UFO flying over their house.
