Download the IML77 ICS 4.0.3 Build for your WiFi XOOM

Around 1AM Eastern time this morning, build IML77 began rolling out out to select XOOM owners, specifically those enrolled in the Motorola Feedback Network as well as a lucky few random participants. IML77 updates the XOOM to Android ICS 4.0.3, so its completely understandable if you’re a bit bummed that you couldn’t get in on the update action. Well cheer up, we have got you covered! Click the download link below to get the official OTA zip.

*Important, you need to be running a stock ROM and have your XOOM locked in order to apply this update. If you have modified your XOOM, you’ll need to downgrade to build HTK75D. Also keep in mind that this is only for US WiFi XOOMs.

1.) Download the update

2.) Store the zip on a flash drive paired with a host cable and apply via stock recovery.

(To enter recovery, reboot your XOOM and after about 3 seconds of the Motorola logo press volume down. Android recovery should appear in the top left. Press volume up to select it. Once booted into recovery you should see an Android on screen and nothing else. To make the menu appear, press power and volume up simultaneously)

    I have the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. So I am desperate to get ICS ON MY XOOM. Will it work if I use the above us rom when I have the south east asia rom? What harm could it do?

      You won’t be able to apply this update to a south east asia ROM. The update zip is only about 80MB. Therefore its clear that this is an incremental update to the XOOM rather than an entire blank ROM like you typically see in the custom community. Specifically the package is meant for MZ604 “Wingray” on US WiFi-only XOOMs.

      If you were seriously desperate I believe you may be able to convert from the south east asia ROM to the US ROM by applying build HTK75D,  the original 3.0 Honeycomb build that came on US WiFi Xooms, and work your way up to 3.2.1 via OTA updates that should appear on your device. At which point you would then be able to apply the 4.0.3 update discussed in the article.

      Bottom line, don’t quote me, but that may work for you. :D

        @ Jim. yes that does work I successfully tried it out. ICS is now working on my Wifi Xoom from SE Asia following upgrading to US Rom and the ICS Rom.

        I have an xoom mz604, but I live in the uk. Would this update work?

          For this update you should currently be running build HWI69 on a model MZ604 Xoom

    Wifi US xoom here and a homemade host cable. Updated with caution from directions above and was successful. ICS is working great!!!!

    Where do you get a host cable that will hook up to a flash drive??  Can I install it from the SD card?

      Best Buy carries the cable for $7.99 in store. Their website says $20 I think.

    I want to know why you can’t boot it off the SD card as well? I found the host cable on amazon but time it gets here I will have the ota. Guess I will wait longer

      Well the XOOM has always had issues with the SD card. I’m not exactly sure why you can’t other than it isn’t an option in stock recovery which is required to flash this.

      Can you tell me why t mobile data slim card don’t work with the zoom? Or can I use data and how.
