Android’s share of UK smartphone market growing exponentially

Android. We all love it.. at least, if you’re reading this, I hope you do. And while I, as a stateside Yankee, adore Google’s OS, my friends over the lake do, too. Android share of the UK has grown from 3% in Q1 of 2010 to an astounding 13.2% in Q2. That’s over a 330% increase… in one quarter. What’s even more astounding is that, during that time, sales in the contract market actually fell by 1%.

According to GFK analyst, Megan Baldock, ”the figures suggest an increasing number of consumers are now asking for Android handsets by name. Operating Systems are no longer simply a by-product but a key selling point in their own right.”
