Just in time for Christmas shopping, Google announces the newest addition to its slew of useful apps, Google Catalogs. Now available for Android tablets, I repeat tablets (not smartphones), Google Catalogs bring the stores to your lap by providing beautiful and interactive catalogs from some of the biggest stores you love.

Google has managed to combine over 400 different catalogs from some of the more popular stores and combined them into one searchable app. You can browse through each individual catalog, or if you have a particular item in mind, you can execute a search across every available retailer. The pages are often interactive, allowing you to hover over an item form more details or sometimes clicking the item will show available options. Once you find an item you are interested in, you can even make an online purchase without ever leaving the app, not to mention your house. Some people compare it to the experience of the Google Shopper app but this new app is more laid out like a real paper catalogue.

The Google Catalogues app offers many different categories, from “men, women, and children; beauty; jewelry; home goods; gifts; and more to come!” Navigating the app is a cinch and you can even share an item with friends of family via email letting them know just exactly you want for Christmas. I have used this app before on my buddies iOS tablet and I must say it was pretty impressive. If you own an Android tablet and want to make shopping a bit easier this year I recommend checking out Google's latest app addition. I have a feeling this will eventually change how people use the Internet for shopping and more and more retailers will sign up as its popularity grows.
