LG has announced that they will be rolling out an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread, for the Optimus 3D. This includes some features from Google like UI improvements and better power management. The update is said to enhance network speed as well as enhance the 3D experience. We told you about the Optimus 3D back in February. The update will begin in the UK on November 21st and will role out to other markets by the end of the year so everyone should be good to go by early next year. It is nice to see LG getting an update out so soon, as most devices take forever to get one. It was only recently LG killed rumors about some of their high-end phones not getting Android 4.0 ICS. Check out these specs taken from the press release included in the update;
Enhanced HSPA+ Speed via Faster Packet Data Services — Internet browsing and real-time streaming have become smoother and more seamless with up to 21Mbps HSDPA;
Enriched 3D Experience with 3D Video Editor and Full-screen UI Preview — With 3D Video Editor, users will be able to easily create and edit 2D as well as 3D movies on their Optimus 3D. The preview screen has become wider with a transparent UI, enabling users to capture better quality 3D content;
Improved Multimedia with 2D Video Stabilization and Faster Gallery Activation — Optimus 3D owners will now be able to record high quality video in 2D mode with the video stabilization feature, previously only available in 3D mode. Gallery loading time has also been reduced.
LG has proven to be an excellent company with timely updates, as well as updates that cover more than just the bugs. Well done LG and keep up the good work.
