Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 CAD-based renders surface 3

With about three months to go until the expected launch of the next generation Pixel phones, some new renders have surfaced for both devices based on CAD files floating around for aftermarket vendors. The renders were supplied by Twitter user Steve H, aka @OnLeaks, who has provided similar renders of upcoming devices in the past, most recently for the LG V30.

In checking out the renders, a few things about the devices may be possible to figure out. While it is difficult to determine the exact extent, the Pixel 2 does appear to have bezels that have been trimmed down compared to the current Pixel devices. This has been a big point of interest since the Pixel 2 is being manufactured by HTC which has not yet maximized screens to the extent of LG and Samsung. Meanwhile, as expect the LG produced Pixel XL 2 continues to appear with minimal bezels similar to what LG did with the LG G6.

On the plus side for the Pixel 2, two prominent front-facing speaker grilles are present in these renders. HTC has received high marks in the past for their dual, stereo front-facing speaker systems and if so equipped, the Pixel 2 should definitely gain some interest from this feature. The Pixel XL 2 may also have a similar system, although the presence of the speaker grilles appears more subtly and could even be a trick of lighting in these renders, so the jury is still out.

Another key “feature” that seems to exist for both devices is the absence of a 3.5mm audio jack. The renders portray devices in a black color, but sources believe Google will make several color options available. The Pixel 2 devices are also expected to be the first to hit the market with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 processor, a slight update to the Snapdragon 835.
