If you’re one of the customers that are affected by Samsung’s major Galaxy Note 7 recall, you’ll be interested to know how Samsung plans on rectifying the situation. They’ve released a statement that will apply to anyone returning or exchanging the device in the US.
You’ll need to contact Samsung directly at 1-800-SAMSUNG or head to where you purchased the device, after which you’ll have two options.
1. Exchange current Galaxy Note7 device with a new Galaxy Note7 (available next week)
2. Exchange current Galaxy Note7 for a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge and replacement of any Note7 specific accessories with a refund of the price difference between devices.
This is good news for pretty much everyone involved, since you’ll be able to swap out for a non-defective Note 7 next week, or jump to a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge if you’re impatient, both of which are great devices. Samsung will also refund your accessories.
Samsung is also bundling in a $25 gift card or $25 bill credit to make up for the hassle, too. So even though this is going to wildly inconvenient for tons of people, you’ll come out a little bit ahead in the long run.
