Google MyTracks updated, now supporting "pause" function and other goodies 3

After months of community comments and focus on the knowledge of traveling, it looks like Google MyTracks has been updated to give users a more enjoyable, and accurate atmosphere. For those who have never used MyTracks before, it is essentially a distance and speed recording tool. People that find more interest in riding bikes, running, or perform other types of recreational activities will be quite happy with the updates, in store for them.

The most notable feature is perhaps the ability to “pause and resume” recording data, which will provide users with a more accurate calculation of their daily travels. Besides the glorious option to control “time and space”, MyTracks users can now utlize recording easily, as the developers have moved the recording functions to the bottom of the app, as opposed to the small icons on the top. And to throw in that “third wish”, you will be able to control everything with a new, sleek widget.

With these updates, its hard not to get this app. You can grab it in the Play Store for free.. no suprise. What do you think of the MyTracks update? Will this assist you in your daily routine? I would love to hear your comments on your latest endeavors using MyTracks.

  1. I have always been a little disappointed with My Tracks. The idea is great. The way it works is not. It quite often “jumps” so that you get peaks of bad data in recordings that makes them inaccurate to a degree where it is untrustworthy. In a test, the distance to my house, from work, and vice versa, varied on a daily basis.
