So, do you like the Samsung Vibrant but want to remain on your AT&T contract? Or does the Captivate tickle your fancy but you have a T-Mobile contract instead? Well, now you can unlock your Galaxy S thanks to the folks over at XDA-Developers, who discovered that the Galaxy S unlock codes are stored right on the phones themselves. The code is stored on a .BAK file, and can be accessed with a hex editor and keyed in when inserting the SIM card of the carrier you would like to use.
Also, your phone doesn’t even have to be rooted in order to do this, and if you ever want to switch back to the phone’s original carrier, simply re-do the process with the old code. If you want to give this a go, head on over to the XDA-developers forum for all the details.
