Sprint has launched their version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus before fully rolling out their LTE network. This means that users of the device have to depend on Sprint’s 3G EV-DO network for data when not near a Wi-Fi connection. Unfortunately, it seems some customers are complaining that their Galaxy Nexus handsets are not able to attain a reliable 3G connection.
Some customers that have exchanged their phones for a new one are claiming successful 3G connections, so it seems that there’s either a bad batch of phones out there, or there’s some other reason why some specific phones are problematic. Whatever the reason is, it seems that Sprint and Samsung are aware of the issue and will be providing a software fix soon. A Sprint employee posted the following in the Sprint community forums:
Sprint/Samsung are aware of this problem and will be releasing a software update to resolve the issue. Can’t commit to a date yet, but they are trying really hard to get it released early next week. Sorry for your troubles.
So there you have it. If you’re experiencing 3G connectivity issues, you can either try your luck by exchanging your device, or wait just a little longer for the fix to arrive.
