New phone, new cases. The Galaxy S10 is easily one of the most popular Android phones on the planet, which means everyone's releasing their cases and accessories for it. We've already looked at some, and next on the list is Silk's Wallet Slayer, available in a couple different patterns and for all three Galaxy S10 models.

It's a pretty affordable case that promises protection while also giving you enough space to carry around some cash and a couple cards, totally replacing slaying your wallet. Worth the investment? We'll find out.

The Wallet Slayer comes in three variants: Black Tie Affair, Chef's Special, and Flavor of the Month. The first of which is, well, black. Chef's Special offers a sort of semi-glossy honeycomb pattern, as seen in the center of the picture above, and Flavor of the Month is a floral-esque pattern that looks like lime cuts to me. Not my thing, but you can't deny it pops.

The design of the case feels good, albeit a bit bulky. It's designed to hold a lot of cards while still maintaining some protection, so there's only so much you can do there. But if you're the type to want as thin of a case as possible and maybe only need a single card on you, beware of the extra thickness you'll pick up with this case.

On the bright side, though, that does make the case feels pretty sturdy. The corners have plenty of reinforcement and all of the important bits feel protected, which is great for your $1000 investment.

Let's sidetrack for a minute, though; one major feature that Samsung talked about with the Galaxy S10 was the faster wireless charging speeds and reverse wireless charging of the device. Those are great features, and could be what tempted you to get the S10 over something else. If the wireless charging is really important to you, you're going to want to be careful with any cases like this.

Silk has a few recommended wireless chargers that work with their Wallet Slayer case, and I can confirm that most (but not all) of my wireless chargers do work with this case on. The nicer and thinner ones tend to be fine, while the cheaper, bulkier chargers don't seem to have the distance required to charge through the extra thickness of the case. You're also going to want to remove any metal cards from your case while charging it, since that will block wireless charging regardless of distance.

Reverse wireless charging was also pretty hit or miss for me with the case on. Buyer beware.

With that out of the way, Silk says this case will hold 3 cards + cash. I managed to fit about 5 cards with no cash into the case before it started to get uncomfortably thick, so that claim seems to be accurate. I wouldn't recommend jamming that many cards in, though, just because it becomes impossible to individually take out the one card that you need when it's that stuffed.

Overall, though, I do like Silk's offering here. I hate bulky cases, and while the Wallet Slayer is definitely not a thin case, it's not unbearable, either. I love not having to deal with a wallet, though, and you can use a card as a kickstand with this case, so there's enough extra functionality to justify some extra weight.

And if you think you'd like the case but don't like plain black or bright green, you can actually customize your case and make it your own through their Amazon store. Upload your own picture and Silk will make your one-of-a-kind case and ship it out for a very small premium. Really cool process.

The Black Tie Affair case is the cheapest of the lot, running just $14.99. The other two colors cost a bit more at $19.99, and the customized case is $24.99. Those prices seem very appropriate for what Silk is selling. They're also on top of responding to questions and complaints, which is a big plus that you don't always see from case manufacturers.

If you're looking for a functional, wallet-replacing case, this should be near the top of your list. It's a hard recommendation for someone who's enthusiastically using all of Samsung's wireless charging features and Samsung Pay, though, so keep that in mind.
