Infinix is a smartphone brand that aims to bring value to the low-to-mid-range segments. Its latest flagship, the Note 40 Pro+ 5G, certainly packs several premium features for a relatively affordable price. It features 100W fast charging, a 120Hz curved AMOLED display, and something called Active Halo, which has something to do with AI. Don't worry, we'll explain what it is after the break.
Under The Hood
Powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 7020 processor, which supports 5G networking, the Note 40 Pro+ 5G has 12GB of physical RAM, which can be virtually extended to 24GB.
A 6.78-inch AMOLED display provides the visuals with FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and Corning's Gorilla Glass protection (unspecified version). There's 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage available.
A 4,600mAh battery keeps the lights on, but when it finally taps out, thanks to the 100W Multi-Speed FastCharge, you can recharge to 50% in just eight minutes. Infinix's self-developed Cheetah X1 power management chip manages the FastCharge 2.0 system, keeping the charging process temperature to a minimum while optimizing the charging speed to suit the environment. This includes a low-temp mode, which aims to keep the charging phone cooler in warmer climates.
The Note 40 Pro+ also benefits from 20W Wireless Magcharge when using the MagCharge Case, which has its own battery. Another feature is Bypass Charging, which powers the phone directly, bypassing the battery and thus avoiding unnecessary wear and tear on the unit during those extended gaming sessions. Finally, reverse charging is also supported with a 10W output when connected via USB-C cable and 5W wirelessly.
Sound is taken care of with JBL's dual speakers, and if you like controlling the TV with your handset, you'll be happy to learn that the Note 40 Pro+ includes an IR blaster.
The camera department is also getting an upgrade. The primary sensor is a 108MP Super-Zoom with OIS, although sadly, the two accompanying sensors are 2MP. The front-facing sensor is 32MP.
Finally, the Note 40 Pro+ launched running XOS 14, based on Android 14.
Active Halo
The Active Halo feature aims to spark engaging conversations with mesmerizing lighting effects created by the Folax AI. Look, that's what Infinix says. I'd consider it to be a funky notification LED that offers a softer lighting option for images.
Price And Availability
Finally, the Note 40 Pro+ comes in Obsidian Black and the stunning Vintage Green colorway, which offers a vegan leather finish. Pricing starts at the $300 mark, and for that money, you get a good whack of value because included in the box is a tempered screen protector, the 100W wall charger, a USB-C cable, USB-C earbuds, and a wireless charger. When you think that brands such as Samsung and Pixel don't include a charger or anything other than a cable in their retail packaging, Infinix's Note 40 Pro+ package offers tremendous value.
It's unknown if Infinix will release the Note 40 Pro+ in Europe, but countries in Southeast Asia and South America should be able to buy the affordable mid-ranger.
