Samsung Unveils Galaxy Tab 8.9 WiFi Version To Be Released In Less Than a Week's Time 3

Today Samsung Mobile finally unveiled, from their popular line of Galaxy devices, the Galaxy Tab 8.9.  A happy medium for those wanting more than a 7-inch device but not quite a 10.1-inch. Samsung delivered tonight with their device weighing in at 447 grams and coming in at 8.6mm thin, this is the thinnest tablet to hit the market to date leaving the iPad 2 mm's behind in the dust.  The device, as its name implies, sports an 8.9″ WXGA (1280×800) res display with gorilla glass technology, a Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core CPU and the popular TouchWiz UX over Android's Honeycomb 3.1.

As expected, the device comes with all of the bells and whistles in the entertainment department as one can expect.  Samsung has included a number of their popular hubs such as the Media Hub, Music Hub offering over 13 million songs to choose from, a Reader's Hub with access to over 2 million books, magazines and news papers.  In addition, they've added their popular Social Hub giving you access to all the Facebook and Twitter one can handle.  All of your standard Google services and of course the Android Market will be available as well.  The device offers a number of security features for those looking to use the tab in a corporate or business setting.  There's support for personal productivity, such as, AllShare content transfer, the new “Find My Mobile” software which allows you to use the device's GPS to track it on a map, should you ever lose the device or someone ‘accidentally borrows” it.

Furthermore, the device will have support for mobile printing and comes pre-loaded with Polaris Office on board.  The device will be available in “less than a week” and will run $469 for the 16 gig model and $569 for the 32 gig option.  Hit the break for the list of full features and offerings from Samsung and stay tuned for our footage of an unboxing and hands on for this bad boy followed by a full length review.
