OPPO Find X9 Ultra Arrives with World-First 10x Optical Zoom

OPPO has officially unveiled the Find X9 Ultra globally, and it is pitching this one squarely at serious photographers. The headline feature is the world's first 50MP 10x optical telephoto lens, which uses a Quintuple Prism Reflection Periscope structure to fold the light path five times, trimming the module length by 30% while delivering genuine 10x optical zoom and an industry-first 20x optical-quality zoom. Something that stands out with the Find X9 Ultra from the off is its stunning Tundra Umber colorway – it's remarkable.

What Makes the Camera System Different

Alongside the telephoto, a pair of Dual Hasselblad 200MP cameras sits. The main shooter uses a 1/1.12-inch Sony LYTIA 901 sensor with an f/1.5 aperture, while the 3x telephoto packs a 1/1.28-inch sensor, the largest in its category at this focal length. A 50MP ultra-wide and a multispectral True Color Camera round out a five-lens rear system that covers focal lengths from 14mm to 460mm.

Video Gets a Serious Upgrade

Find X9 Ultra introduces 8K video at 30fps, a first for an OPPO flagship. The Dual 200MP cameras also support 4K at 120fps, and the phone shoots Dolby Vision HDR up to 30x zoom. There is also O-Log2 support with ACES certification, meaning the footage is genuinely ready for professional color-grading workflows.

Hasselblad Master Mode Explained

The new Hasselblad Master Mode bypasses typical smartphone tone mapping to produce more natural, detailed images. Shooting options include 50MP JPEG MAX and 50MP RAW MAX across six focal lengths, and users can apply nine built-in film simulations or create custom presets. Third-party 3D LUT support is included for real-time color monitoring and for baking directly into the video file.

The Hardware Backing It All Up

Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with a 7,050mAh silicon-carbon battery. Charging tops out at 100W wired and 50W wireless. The 6.82-inch QHD+ AMOLED display runs at 144Hz with a 3,600-nit peak brightness and drops to 1 nit at the low end, which is a practical detail that often gets overlooked.

Design and Durability

The back takes clear cues from the Hasselblad X2D, with horizontally aligned logos on vegan leather and a new hexagonal aperture detail on the inside of the camera module. It comes in Tundra Umber and Canyon Orange, the latter of which uses aircraft-grade fiber. IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings cover the full range of conditions you are likely to shoot in.

Software: ColorOS 16

Find X9 Ultra launches with ColorOS 16, bringing Live Space for consolidated notifications, AI Mind Space for screen capture and organization, and AI Mind Pilot for routing tasks across multiple AI models. AI Menu Translation, which generates a visual guide to foreign dishes, is a genuinely useful addition for travel shooters.

OPPO Find X9 Ultra goes on sale in the UK on 8th May 2026, priced from £1,449. It will be available through the OPPO UK store and Currys in both color options. Buyers also receive a complimentary 3-month Google AI Pro subscription, including Gemini app access and 5TB of cloud storage.

At £1,449, this is firmly in premium flagship territory, but the camera credentials here are hard to argue with. If long-range zoom and pro video tools matter to you more than anything else, the Find X9 Ultra has a compelling case to make. And that's not even mentioning the speedy charging, big battery, and excellent design that blows the likes of Samsung's Galaxy S26 Ultra out of the equation.
