Nothing is known for its transparent, minimalist design language. They’ve mostly stuck to muted greys and clean whites on their phones. Even when they experimented, the boldest move was arguably the blue Phone 2a and 3a variant. Now, the Phone 4a arrives in a new color never before used for their phone series.
Pink is just desaturated red, says Nothing
In a 12-minute video released on YouTube, Nothing’s industrial design experts provide a look at the creative process and engineering choices behind the new pink Phone 4a.
It's an interesting color choice, given how pink is culturally treated as feminine. Particularly, it was because of post-World War II consumer culture and gendered marketing. Blue, on the other hand, especially deeper or cooler blues, is traditionally treated as a masculine shade.
Safer and more neutral color choices would’ve been graphite, matte black, silver, or even a muted sage or charcoal. Brands like Google usually lean into that safety net, except for the latest Pixel 9 series that also introduced a striking pink shade. Nothing, though, is clearly less interested in playing it safe.

According to them, pink is just desaturated red, so “your masculinity is intact”. It really does look like desaturated red filtered through frosted glass. Because both the outer glass and the resin layer underneath are tinted, the color doesn’t sit flat on the surface.
Through the translucent shell, you can still see Nothing’s signature industrial layout with the screws, geometric paneling, and the camera housing framed in an oval module. The darker camera lenses contrast against the warm pink body. Next to the white model, it stands out more. There may even be a blue and black version as hinted on the microsite.
Phone 4a launch is merely days away
The Glyph Bar on the Nothing Phone 4a is more functional as it does more than just lighting up for calls and notifications. It now works with Android 16’s Live Updates to show real-time progress for timers, ride-share tracking, and more.
The device itself is launching on March 5, 2026. We know this because Nothing has officially confirmed the London launch date. They've also released both media reports and a Flipkart microsite for the device ahead of the announcement.
Rumors have it that the standard Phone 4a could go on sale around March 12, with the 4a Pro following later in the month, possibly around March 26. OnePlus hasn't confirmed it yet.

In terms of specifications, the Phone 4a is expected to run on the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, paired with a 6.78-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It'll have a 5,400mAh battery supporting 50W wired charging.
The camera setup could include a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom, along with a 32MP front camera. The Pro model is expected to use the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, UFS 3.1 storage, and a slightly larger 6.83-inch OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate.
