The V-series has always been about balance — style, cameras and everyday usability rather than chasing raw flagship power. With the global launch of the Vivo V70, the company keeps that identity intact while noticeably expanding what the lineup can do, particularly in photography and endurance.

Compared with the previous V60 series, the changes aren’t dramatic at first glance. The phone is still slim, still elegant, still clearly lifestyle-focused. But once you dig into the camera hardware and battery capacity, this is a far more ambitious device.

Design & display

The V70 adopts a cleaner, flatter look built around an aerospace-grade aluminium alloy frame and an etched AG glass rear panel designed to resist fingerprints and scratches. The new Golden Hour colourway features a micro-texture finish that shifts highlights with the angle, giving the device a more premium visual identity than the V60’s simpler finishes.

Up front sits a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED display running at 120Hz, surrounded by extremely narrow 1.25mm bezels. The panel feels sharper and more flagship-like than before, and it’s paired with a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that unlocks reliably even with wet fingers.

Durability also improves, with IP68 and IP69 protection and drop resistance rated to 1.8 metres — upgrades that push the series closer to true daily-carry reliability rather than purely style-led hardware.

Camera

The biggest evolution arrives in imaging. Co-engineered with ZEISS, the V70 introduces a dedicated 50MP periscope telephoto camera alongside its 50MP main sensor and ultrawide lens, as well as a 50MP autofocus selfie camera.

This is significant because the V60 line leaned heavily on portrait quality but lacked serious reach. The V70 changes that by targeting real-world photography scenarios — concerts, stage performances, and travel — rather than only close-range portraits.

A new AI Stage Mode works with the telephoto camera to deliver clearer performer shots at a distance, while ZEISS multifocal portrait styles recreate the characteristics of 85mm and 100mm lenses. Video also improves, with 4K 60fps recording arriving in the V-series for the first time.

AI editing tools are another major focus. Magic Weather can relight skies, remove passersby, and straighten composition directly on the device, while AI Audio Noise Eraser selectively removes unwanted sound in recordings. The goal is obvious: less editing on a computer and more usable content straight from the phone.

Software & AI

The V70 runs OriginOS 6, bringing deeper AI integration and four generations of Android upgrades with six years of security support.

The new Origin Island dynamically surfaces information at the top of the screen, while features like Copy & Go and Drag & Go speed up everyday interactions. AI Search allows natural language queries for files and settings, and productivity tools generate summaries, captions, and translations in real time.

The software also integrates Google Gemini assistance, along with cross-device sharing tools designed to streamline workflows between phones and computers.

Performance & battery

Internally, the V70 uses LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage backed by the largest vapor chamber ever used in the series for sustained performance. The focus isn’t gaming benchmarks — it’s stability during photography, video recording, and multitasking.

Battery capacity, however, is a clear leap forward. The V70 packs a 6500mAh BlueVolt battery with 90W charging, a major increase over the V60 generation’s already respectable endurance. For many users, that likely turns a comfortable one-day phone into a two-day device.

Availability

The V70 will roll out gradually across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, with regional pricing and configurations varying by market

Verdict

The V70 doesn’t try to reinvent the V-series — it strengthens its purpose. The addition of a periscope camera and significantly larger battery transforms how the phone is used day to day, especially for travel and event photography.

Where the V60 refined the formula, the V70 expands it. It remains a style-forward smartphone, but now one that’s clearly designed to capture moments you previously needed a flagship zoom camera for — and last long enough to do it all weekend.
