Samsung officially announced the Galaxy Z TriFold in December 2025, teasing what felt like an almost impossible device. We saw early renders and a brief preview at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas last year.
At the time, the US launch was vaguely promised for the first quarter of this year (Q1 2026). Now, there's a confirmed release date. The TriFold will land in the country after all, and will be going on sale later this week. Are you ready to unfold the future?
You'll pay almost thrice for the three-part display
Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold will launch on January 30, which is only days from now. The press release states that consumer testing has already started, and you can preview the device in any Experience store near you.
Samsung has a long history of pioneering category defining devices. Galaxy Z TriFold builds on that legacy with a standout form factor that allows users to enjoy the convenience of a smartphone and the usability of a tablet within a single design that can fold into your pocket.
Drew Blackard, Senior Vice President of Mobile Product Management at Samsung America.

The phone was initially rumored to have only one storage option of 512GB, but the Korean launch unveiled another 1TB. It's unclear if this model will reach the US.
The TriFold is already turning heads. However, it's unclear whether those necks are snapping from the shock of its destabilizing price, or from genuine distraction caused by its audacious form factor. It'll cost $2,899, you'll be able to buy it from the official website or offline retail stores when it's time. Black is the only color option.

The design is as the name implies. It has three panels that fold into each other, opening into a large tablet-like display. It's about 10-inches with 120Hz refresh rate and uses an AMOLED technology, with an overall weight of 309g.
As Samsung boasts, it can survive a “200,000-cycle multi-folding test”, courtesy of the titanium hinges and newly reinforced overcoat. Still, I wouldn’t be so eager to push a first-generation hardware beyond its daily necessities.
Early adopters are part of the long-term stress test, and will determine whether those lab numbers are true.
Samsung finally adds charger for a flagship
There's a customized Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile chip for Galaxy inside the Galaxy Z TriFold. It also supports 16GB RAM. The primary camera on the back is a 200MP wide angle lens.
Like the screens, the phone's battery has a three-cell design splitting 5,600mAh across each panel, with support for 45W fast charging.

Surprisingly, a charging brick will come in the box. Samsung hasn't included a charger with their phones for years. But it's only fair that you get one now, considering that they're collecting small portions of people's life savings for the flagship.
The company is also offering six months free Google AI Pro, with included access to Veo3 for video generation. Plus, you'll get 2TB of cloud storage during that period, among other benefits.
