You’ve probably heard this a lot recently, but Samsung’s first tri-folding phone has been rumored for months. A bunch of specifications leaked ahead of time, with a few confirmed through certifications and early hands-on sightings. The company has made the device official via an announcement from the company's corporate newsroom.
A magnificently revolutionary piece of hardware

As confirmed by Samsung itself, the Galaxy Z TriFold will be the thinnest at 3.9 mm and will be powered by the customized Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile chip for Galaxy. It will have a 200MP wide-angle camera and a 5,600mAh three-cell battery split across the device's three panels. It'll have support for 45W super-fast charging.
Earlier leaks hinted at only one memory configuration, but that's not the case as Samsung is releasing two versions: 16GB RAM with 1TB internal storage and 16GB RAM with 512GB space.

Because the screen now folds twice, the original Fold-style panel wasn’t strong enough. So the brand created a new display structure with a shock-absorbing layer underneath and a reinforced coating on top.
The hinge housing is made of titanium, while the frame is made of Advanced Armor Aluminum. The back panel uses a ceramic-glass fiber-reinforced polymer, which is basically a fancy way of saying it’s a plastic composite, yet much harder to crack than regular plastic.
Samsung also mentioned using Armour Flex hinge technology, where the center panel is slightly thicker than the rest because it’s the structural backbone of the entire device. It has a 4.2mm measurement, while carrying 3.9mm and 4.0mm sections on either side.

The total weight is 309g. It's definitely not the heaviest phone ever made, but it's heavier than any foldable or traditional smartphone the company has produced. Until now, the Galaxy S24 Ultra held the record at 232g. You probably thought of the Z Fold 7, but it weighs only 215g compared to the 215 g.
USA launch is still far off, and yet so close
Each outer panel only has to fold once, so its internal layout can be slightly slimmer. But the center panel houses the central spine where both hinge mechanisms anchor. So it makes sense to have more physical hardware packed inside,
The first country to receive the Galaxy Z TriFold is South Korea on December 12, 2025. It'll be released in regions like China, Taiwan, Singapore, and the UAE afterward. US residents will have to wait a bit longer as Samsung says the phone will arrive in the first quarter (Q1) of 2026.

They also said that it'll be available in select physical retail stores where people can walk in, hold it, unfold it, and get a feel for how it works. Staff will be there to guide you or answer questions.
If you end up buying the phone, you'll get six months of Google AI Pro free, which includes access to Veo3 for video generation. You'll also get 2TB of cloud storage during that period, among other benefits.
There's a one-time 50% discount on display repair. If your TriFold screen ever breaks or needs service, Samsung will cover half the repair cost the first time. It does slip into a grey area. The phone is expected to cost well over $2,000. Precisely, $2,450. A 50% discount helps, yet hints at how expensive the TriFold’s screen really is. Thankfully, Samsung will soften the sting a bit.
