Motorola has officially started rolling out the stable version of Android 16 to some of its phones. The first devices receiving the update are the Motorola Edge 60 Pro and the Edge 50 Fusion. For now, the rollout is limited to specific markets, with the Edge 60 Pro getting it in Brazil and the Edge 50 Fusion in Mexico.
The update size is about 2GB for the Edge 60 Pro and 1.54GB for the Edge 50 Fusion, and they arrive under firmware versions W1VV36H.7-21-5 and W1UU36H.21-14-3 respectively. The changelog teases expressive design changes and better compatibility with LE Audio devices.
Motorola is finally fixing its late update issues
Interestingly, the changelog for Android 16’s release on the aforementioned phones doesn’t mention key highlights like Live Updates or intelligent notification grouping. But they may still be a part of the update, regardless. It's nice to see Motorola finally catching up.
Historically, the brand has lagged behind other Android brands in pushing out major Android version upgrades. It started after Lenovo bought them in 2014. Since then many phones, especially mid-range G- and E-series, only get one release, sometimes two if you’re lucky.

It's not encouraging for buyers as others like Samsung now offer up to four or five years for midrange phones, and up to seven years for their flagships.
