Phandroid posted a video that Sprint has launched going after T-Mobile. My first reaction was to bash Virgin Mobile for a video like this. It reminds me of the Apple vs PC commercials we have all seen a million times or politician videos where one is bashing the other in childish ways. It just seems old and unintelligent at this point. Most people have caught on to not being fooled by advertising and research material like this on their own. Is anyone falling for the T-Mobile pink dress girl just acting all dummy like?
My question is, are T-mobile and Virgin in the same league? Virgin is a prepaid cell service after all. The $35 plan they advertise may get you unlimited web and data, but this comes with 300 minutes of talk time (this may be way too low for someone relying on only their cell for calls). Bump this up to $45 and you'll get 1200 minutes (this sure seems like a good deal at a glance). Step up one more time to $55 dollars and you'll have unlimited everything. If you look here you'll see Virgin comparing themselves to everyone else and how much you'll save. What's really the catch here? It could be the little things one might miss like no night and weekend minutes.
On second thought, there certainly is a market out there for Virgin. There are people who don't want to be bound by a contract and don't care about having the latest and greatest device. While Virgin may not have the latest and greatest phones and lacking anything above 3G, this may be just fine for some. I'd suggest if you're swayed by the video you at least read the fine print to see what you're really getting in comparison.
While on the surface it looks like T-mobile is down and open to having some dirt kicked in their face they have some great phones and decent plans to offer. Being they are the only ones to offer WiFi calling still peaks my interest.

An excellent blog about contract vs non-contract plans. I am coming up on my Sprint renewal date, and I have very heavily considered Virgin Mobile- I would maintain the same reception levels I’m already accustomed to, but i would pay less than half of what I pay now. I’m not a big talker, but i use up data like free donuts at the office. Ultimately I have decided that I love my latest greatest phones too much to switch to pre-paid service. The Nexus S will soon be mine… If having a regular 3G android works for you, then why on earth would you pay more than 60$ a month for your service?
“if your swayed” –> you are = you’re
Oh, and… free nights and weekends are important on an unlimited plan why exactly?
