Tomorrow, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Z Flip 7 FE will be made official. Besides major design upgrades to two of those models, the trio is going to launch with One UI 8. It might feel too soon for Android 16 to be coming to Samsung phones, considering it took ages for Android 15 to finally roll out in full, but it is truly here.
Samsung has outlined multiple ways that it is going to improve the security experience on One UI 8. It might not be an aspect of the spec sheet that you think about much as a user, but Samsung definitely has to make it a top priority, and here's how it has in the upcoming OS version.
Samsung Upgrades Mobile Security in One UI 8 With Various New Features

These days, with AI processing your voice, documents, the things you type, and so much more, security on your smartphone is more of a vital topic than ever before. To make sure that you're staying safe in all ways possible, Samsung has prioritized your safety and privacy on One UI 8, through a bunch of new features.
Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP)

Samsung has developed a new architecture, known as Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection, or KEEP. While the company doesn't exactly describe it in a very user-friendly fashion, it seems to create encrypted storage spaces for each app, making sure that they can't access data or information created by or belonging to any other app.
KEEP also ties in with Samsung's Personal Data Engine, so that things that are very personal, like the exact way you interact with your device, your routines, and your preferences, stay secure. These insights won't be uploaded to the cloud for any reason, despite how integrated they might be with Galaxy AI.
Knox Matrix

You can think of Knox Matrix as a way to provide solid device protection across your Galaxy smartphone and any other connected devices. When a device is flagged for a serious threat, it will automatically sign out of your Samsung account, which prevents it from accessing any Samsung cloud services which could allow threats to spread to or access your Galaxy tablet, computer, or smartwatch.
Secure Wi-Fi With Post-Quantum Enhanced Data Protection

If you connect to public Wi-Fi, there are a lot of risks. Features like Secure Wi-Fi protect information that is being transmitted over the network, and it gets better on One UI 8 thanks to Post-Quantum Enhanced Data Protection. This uses post-quantum cryptography to improve the security of the data your phone sends, future-proofing it against quantum computing, which may potentially be able to break those encryptions.
Secure Wi-Fi also brings a few more high-end security features:
- Auto Protect: Secures Wi-Fi connections in public places without your action.
- Enhanced Privacy Protection: Encrypts your internet traffic and employs multiple security techniques to prevent tracking and anonymize your information.
- Protection Activity: Allows you to view which apps and networks were secured and the quantity of encrypted data on those networks.
