The Vivo X Fold 5 and the Honor Magic V5 are both official, which leaves one major foldable in this release window. That's the Galaxy Z Fold 7, made by Samsung. It's unarguably the most popular book-style foldable, whether you believe it deserves that position or not.
The device will launch in less than a week, and in the run-up to that, we're getting the chance to see actual images of the device, as opposed to the renders we've been seeing so far. I'll get ahead of myself a little, but this is certainly the best that Samsung's book-style foldable phone has looked in quite some time.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Looks Just as Good in Real-World Images

When smartphone launches get closer, the crack in the dam gapes larger and larger, allowing for bigger leaks (pun intended). The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 (and the Flip 7) is the next major smartphone set for launch, so the spotlight will be focused on it up until its launch on July 9th. Leading up to that, though, thanks to Jukanlosreve on X, we get a new perspective on the upcoming foldable phone.
The tipster has brought the first real-world images of a retail-ready Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, in the blue colorway, and I have to say: it looks amazing. It confirms that the design will remain very close to the Z Fold 6, with angular edges and the same camera module. One noticeable change is that the LED flash on the back panel has moved downward slightly.

Plus, we get our first real perception of the Samsung device's thickness. Considering that it is just a tad wider than the end of the SIM card tray, that's a major improvement. Speaking of the SIM card tray, that seems to move from the side of the device to sit beside the speaker grille on the top of the foldable.
Summarizing the Confirmed Changes in the Z Fold 7 Design

Since these new images confirm a lot, let's pack everything into a nice bow. Here's a comprehensive view of the things that change or that have been verified by these real-world images:
- The device will be available in a cobalt blue colorway.
- The LED flash will move a little lower on the device for purely aesthetic purposes.
- The SIM card tray will move from the side of the device to the top of the device.
- The smartphone will be notably thinner than its predecessor.
- Samsung reverts to “simpler” camera rings, without the thick frames.
Unfortunately, due to the sheet placed over the foldable inner screen, we can't confirm just yet whether the under-display selfie camera is truly gone.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Will Be Powerful, But Still Lags in the Battery Department

If you're going to be paying nearly $2,000 for a Samsung smartphone, you deserve the most performance that the OEM can offer, and you get that in the form of the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. You should also be able to spec it out with up to 1TB of storage, with 12GB of RAM.
However, the device isn't expected to change in the battery department. It looks like Samsung will maintain the cell at 4,400mAh. Worse is that 45W charging is still a dream. Your device that costs two grand will have to stick with 25W charging. I thought we were in 2025.
