The Google Pixel 9a is the next device on Google's schedule for release, and we're expecting to see it arrive before the end of this month. For those who love the company's budget releases, this is bound to be a phone that'll tick all the right boxes, especially with a facelift that'll arguably make it a lot more modern.
While there isn't too long left to wait before we see the Google Pixel 9a in full, that hasn't stopped major leaker Evan Blass from publishing several marketing images for the upcoming smartphone. Personally, I'm a big fan of the new look, but I'll get into that in a bit.
The Google Pixel 9a Is Essentially Confirmed for Four Fun Colorways
The Google Pixel 9a is the upcoming “a” model of the tech giant's current generation of smartphones, and not only does that mean that it will come with a lower price tag, but it is also where Google gets to have a little more fun with the way its devices look. With the Google Pixel 9a, the marketing images leaked by Evan Blass show that the OEM is ready to do things a little differently.
The Google Pixel 9a is going to have a very different design compared to the Google Pixel 8a and even the Google Pixel 9. First off, there is no semblance of the visor, as you might have seen in the Pixel models released last year. Arrived is a design that gets rid of everything that can even slightly be deemed “unnecessary.” It's probably the most brutalist Pixel yet.
I like it though. The back panel is almost completely flat, save for the small pill-shaped dual-camera module that is very minimally raised. Next to that module is the LED flash. The screen is flat, and so is the frame. It's very modern, though some might not like the lack of character. We can also see Google showing off the new purple colorway, alongside black, porcelain, and pink.
The Google Pixel 9a Is Expected to Arrive on March 19th
We're expecting to see the Google Pixel 9a launch officially on March 19th, which isn't too far from now. However, Google has become pretty bad when it comes to keeping secrets, so there's almost no doubt in my mind that what we're seeing now is what we shall get when the day eventually comes.
While the Google Pixel “a” series never really had a good counterpart on the Apple side of the field, with the arrival of the Apple iPhone 16e, I think that Google's lower-end device is going to find itself scrutinized a lot more than it usually is. Fortunately, with very few compromises on the camera front, the same Tensor processor as the bigger phones, and almost the full suite of cool software tricks, I don't see why the Pixel 9a won't be a usual hit.
Either way, we'll know a lot more about the device when Google makes the official announcement for its launch event, which shouldn't be too far from now.
