The NFL’s final day of the season has become one of the most captivating sporting events. The Super Bowl in February 2024 enjoyed a ten percent upsurge in global viewing figures, with countries as far and wide as Mexico, China, Australia, and the United Kingdom enjoying the mix of cultural entertainment and sporting excellence. This means an increasing demand to watch American football on easily accessible devices 24/7.

The digital landscape has made this all possible. Wherever the consumer is in the world, whatever their preferred smartphone, tablet, or TV, there is a way to use it as a personal viewing hub for all things NFL.

The NFL’s partnership with multiple streaming services has changed how viewers interact with the game. With the disparate market sharing out so many games across many providers, sometimes it is challenging to keep up with the number of channels and the active subscriptions needed for so many regular matches and then the playoffs.

Android has the most significant share of the market regarding smartphone usability, with about 70 percent of players worldwide compared to Apple’s IOS system, which is just under 30 percent. Many fans don’t always want to watch the entirety of the ball game. Gen Z and Millennials increasingly want a service that provides snappy, sharp content that includes real-time data and exciting analysis to engage with the match.

YouTube TV is one of the most popular streaming apps that can be installed on an Android device. After searching for it by title, it can be downloaded from the Google Store and installed. Once installed, the app can be opened, and the player can enter the Google address linked to the subscription. Channels to scroll through include the official NFL, Fox, ESPN, and CBS to find a live football game. YouTube TV is also now the exclusive home of NFL Sunday Ticket

The official NFL App has been tested and optimized for compatibility and high quality on some Android devices, including Android Phone 9 +, Android Tablet 9 +, and Android TV. Regular season and postseason games are available only on phones and tablets.

Players must ensure their location services are activated on their phone or tablet to access games. NFL+ subscribers also get access to an extensive library of documentaries and shows from NFL films and the NFL Network, all of which can be discovered on the official NFL app.

DAZN came onto the scene last year with a comprehensive package of games to watch (excluding the United States and China) with NFL Game Pass International. This package includes every single game of the regular season and the postseason playoffs and is available on Android mobile devices and Android TV.

As the three elimination rounds of the playoffs have become one of the most watched passages of the NFL’s New Year package, more viewers will be glued to the do-or-die one-off matches.

All the talk will revolve around the battle of the quarterbacks, which feeds into NFL player props. The wagers will accumulate as the finale at Caesars Superdome comes into view. Fourteen top teams are involved in three different knockout rounds. The number one seeds from the AFC and the NFC got a bye (Kansas and Detroit), while three sides advanced from the Wildcard weekend to the divisional stage of eight teams. The last four will then meet in the Conference Championship.

No streaming services show all the NFL games under one roof. However, some of the best options for postseason games or matches local to the market are the official NFL app on Android or the NFL Premium. The latter will include replays of every match without advertisements, potted highlights that include game replays, and NFL RedZone on TV.

The proliferation of streaming services fighting for the same product means several providers can be accessed for mobile and tablet Android devices. There are some differences between offerings that should be studied before choosing. What is certain is that the demand for more specific content will continue to drive the customization of all moving parts of the ball game.

Generation Z and Millennials are now watching sports on the go. This reflects the nature of how consumers are interacting with sports coverage in the 21st century. The community now wants to know the real-time statistics stars of the show, engage with their bio, and be immersed in their play. Watching the NFL through the smartphone and in high definition has become more significant than the main event itself.
