AI is the future, or that's what every single phone manufacturer wants you to think, at the very least. Look, I'm not trying to be an old man shaking his fist angrily at the concept of the future, but I do think manufacturers need to calm down just a tad. Anyway, I can certainly acknowledge the forms in which “AI” is very useful.

The Google Pixel 9 series is bound to have a launch event filled with AI-related buzzwords, but speaking of useful AI features, I think there's one that I really like the sound of. The rumored “Call Notes” feature will help with call recording and transcription, which could be incredibly useful.

The Google Pixel 9 Series Might Be Coming With Phone Call Recording And Transcription

The Google Pixel 9 series will be the first flagship family released by Google after the full explosion of smartphone AI (which was arguably set into full motion by Samsung's S24 lineup release). I think it follows that we can expect the Pixel 9 smartphones to come packed with AI this and AI that, especially with how hard Google has been placing its bets on Gemini.

We know about at least one new AI feature that's going to be coming to the new flagships and it's called Call Notes. We know this thanks to Dylan Roussel, and it is expected to do pretty much what the name suggests. It'll allow for recording phone calls as well as transcribing them. Summarization of the transcript isn't explicitly stated, but considering Pixels can summarize voice recordings, it doesn't seem far-fetched to expect that.

Think of those relatively long phone calls you might have with someone, talking about important things. A lot of the time, there's some information that you might need to pick back up on after the call, like an address, a time, or a name. Well, with this feature, you won't need to call or message to be reminded. You can just check the transcripts. I'm a fan of that.

Another Feature Coming To The Pixel 9 Family Is “Add Me”

It's easy for us to know so much about the Google Pixel 9 lineup because its launch is coming upon us quickly; these smartphones are launching on August 13th this year, which is much earlier than usual, and the closer a launch, the more leaks we get. In this case, not everything is coming from clandestine sources, as Google has never been shy to show some things off themselves prior to launch.

One feature we're going to be getting is Add Me, and you'll either find yourself creeped out or in awe of what it can do. This feature will be able to, as the name suggests, add you to a photograph that you weren't originally in. A now-deleted leaked ad showed this being used when one person has to take the picture and can't be in it. After taking the picture, they are snapped posing in the same spot, and Google takes care of the rest.
