In March, Infinix unveiled its Note 40 series of devices to the world, starting from the vanilla Note 40 and going all the way up to the Note 40 Pro+ 5G. These phones bring a lot for the budget price that they start at, and that makes it easier to understand how Transsion Holdings, Infinix' parent company, cracked the top 5 global manufacturers for the first time recently.
Infinix doesn't want you to forget about the Note 40 series of devices, so they've collaborated with BMW to bring us the Racing Edition models of the entire Note 40 lineup. Yep. All five devices are getting Racing Editions, so let's talk about that.
The Racing Edition Brings A More Exciting Design To Infinix' Note 40 Devices
If the only thing that was holding you back from hopping on any of the devices in Infinix' Note 40 series was that the design was a bit too tame for your taste, then this sure is your lucky day. The company has made the smart move to collaborate with BMW Group Designworks for the first time, bringing what I consider a much more exciting design to the table.
The regular Note 40 smartphones used nice materials for their back panels, but nothing too crazy. They looked good, but for some people, the preference might be having their devices stand out a bit more and with the Racing Edition models, that wish comes true.
The Racing Edition Note 40 devices adopts what the company calls a Wings of Speed design which prints sleek lines running vertically across the silvery back panel of the smartphone. You'll have to squint to see it, but the smartphones also have a tiny tri-color badge on the camera frame. That's a nice touch, and if you've seen BMW's collaboration with iQOO, it's a similar idea (though much smaller).
If You're Expecting Some Changes To The Specifications, That's Not Happening Here
Now, when you hear “Racing Edition” on top of a smartphone that's already been released, you might expect it to come with a faster processor, or at the very least, faster charging. After all, race cars go fast, as any five-year-old boy could likely tell you. Unfortunately, in the case of the Infinix Racing Edition devices, that's not what happens.
Nothing switches up on the spec sheet, and all you really get is an updated look. Considering that nothing really changes in the price department, I suppose that's not necessarily a disappointing thing. It's just a matter of expectations.
However, there isn't too much that need to change when it comes to specs. All the devices share 120Hz curved AMOLED screens, 20W magnetic wireless charging, 256GB of internal storage, with 32MP selfie cameras and 108MP primary cameras with OIS. With the Note 40 Pro+, you also get 100W wired fast charging, which is notable. You'll also get updates up to Android 16.
The series starts at $209 for the Note 40 Racing Edition and goes up to the Note 40 Pro+ 5G which starts at $329. You also get Infinix' MagKit out of the box, which comes with a magnetic wireless charging pad, magnetic wireless power bank, and a magnetic phone case.
