Samsung's heritage when it comes to premium Android tablets is second to none, and while the Tab S9 Ultra caught most of the headlines, the regular Tab S9 offers a great deal of value. And with Samsung knocking $120 off the RRP of $919, the Galaxy Tab S9 suddenly looks even more enticing with its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and unlike the Galaxy Tab S8, an AMOLED display.
It may be the cheaper option, but the vanilla Galaxy Tab S9 offers much the same features and functionality as its more expensive siblings.
The Tablet
Usually priced at $919, the vanilla Galaxy Tab S9 is now on offer for just $799 directly from Samsung which brings further appeal to it. For that money, you still get a premium 120Hz AMOLED display, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of expandable storage (yes, Samsung still equips the Galaxy Tab S9 with MicroSD support), plus IP68 water and dust resistance.
You'll also gain access to AI-powered features such as Circle to Search, Transcript Assist, and Photo Assist. Thanks to the responsive S Pen, you'll also be able to doodle or draw your imagination onto the display. And, when you are done with the S Pen, it attaches to the rear of the tablet where it's ready for the next time you need it.
Weighing in at 500g, the Galaxy Tab S9 is just 5.9mm thin, despite sporting an 11-inch display. It's ready to take notes in meetings, read ebooks on the train or watch movies in bed, all with the vibrant colors and deep blacks associated with AMOLED panels. Gaming? Why yes, with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 providing the grunt, the Galaxy Tab S9 is great for gaming as well, either via touchscreen controls or a Bluetooth controller.
In the box, you'll get the Galaxy S9 tablet, the S Pen stylus, and a USB-C charging cable. Samsung also includes a bunch of value-adding software subscriptions such as a couple of months of access to Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Express, plus 6-months of Microsoft 365 Basic.
