Smart rings are not a new device category by any standard. They've been around for quite a long time, and have been rather popular. However, it is understandable if the upcoming Galaxy Ring is the reason for these wearables coming into your crosshairs.
Amazfit, a brand very popular for its smartwatches, is set to release a smart ring in the US, called the Helio Ring. If you're interested in getting the Helio in your hands (or on your finger), you'll be glad to know that it's coming to the US on May 15th — exactly two weeks away.
The Amazfit Helio Ring Will Be Available In Two Weeks
I sort of understand the market for a smart ring. It's easier to wear around the clock, it's less distracting, and it can collect many of the same health metrics that a smartwatch can. It's not surprising that Amazfit, with a selection of smartwatches, is choosing to add the first smart ring to its catalog.
This smartwatch is going to be coming to the US very soon — May 15th to be precise, so you won't need to wait too long if you want to get your hands on it. According to Amazfit, it'll pair well with its T-Rex Ultra and Cheetah Pro smartwatches (though of course they'd say that).
The smart ring is going to come in at $299, so it is not exactly cheap. But for those who are very health and fitness-focused, it might be worth it. If you don't have an Amazfit smartwatch yet, you'll get a discount on the Helio down to $149 if you buy it along with a T-Rex Ultra or a Cheetah Pro. You'll have to wait until the launch date if you want to take advantage of this sweet deal though.
The Amazfit Helio Ring Brings A Very Different Design To The Table
The first thing that you're going to notice about the Helio Ring is that it definitely stands out from all the other smart rings that are currently available, including the upcoming Galaxy Ring. Most of them default to a shiny silver finish, though you can get many in alternate colors that are expected of rings, like black or gold. However, the Amazfit Helio Ring has a champagne gold colorway with a dotted finish. I'm a fan of the look.
The watch is constructed from a titanium alloy (a nice fit for all the titanium smartphones this year), which makes it lighter than 4 grams. It's got 10 ATM water resistance and is charged with a special wireless dock. You'll be able to track your stress levels, heart rate, and blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) with this smart ring. They also say you'll be able to track various metrics in your sleep, such as sleep stages, sleep quality, and sleep breathing quality.
All your health data will be loaded onto the Zepp app, the same way it is when you have an Amazfit smartwatch. And even without a watch yet, you'll still be able to get a lot of very helpful insights into your health with this significantly more compact wearable.
