HTC is expanding their technological reach even more with the purchase of VIA' Technologies' S3 Graphics Co., Ltd. For those of you familiar with PC hardware, you'll know that VIA has been in the chipset and processor game for a long time. Back in 2001, VIA acquired S3 Graphics.
HTC is paying out $300 million, and $147 million of it is going to VIA, while WTI will get a hefty $153 million. All three companies have already approved of the acquirement, however, HTC has made no information public as far as what their plans are for S3.
