With just a few days left in April you might have wondered if Google had forgotten about its scheduled release of its Android 13 Beta 1 but have no fear, it's here and ready to download to your eligible Pixel smartphone.
As the first beta build of Android 13, as opposed to the Developer Previews that went before it, we can expect a more stable experience although there will still be bugs and glitches to be found. It is still a beta, after all. As such, if your Pixel is your main device, it's probably advisable that you skip this first beta and wait for the second or even third beta builds, perhaps especially if you are using a Pixel 6 or 6 Pro which has its own special brand of issues.
The Android 13 Beta 1 build is available for the following Pixel phones:
- Pixel 4 and 4 XL
- Pixel 4a and 5a (5G)
- Pixel 5 and 5a
- Pixel 6 and 6 Pro
The easiest way to get the Android 13 Beta 1 on your Pixel phone is to simply head over to the beta website and enroll your phone in the program, after which you'll see a notification on your phone that an OTA update is ready to download and install.
If you simply can't wait for an OTA, you can of course download the relevant factory image or OTA file and flash it manually to your Pixel or head over to the Android Flash Tool and update your phone that way.
