Anytime a new phone comes out is a good time to see just how much abuse it can take before it breaks. JerryRigEverything on YouTube consistently delivers, too, if you're into that.
This time we're getting a look at the new Galaxy Z Fold 3 to see how it withstands scrapes, scratches, and bends.
Galaxy Z Fold 3 torture test
Good news first; it looks like the Z Fold 3 is actually a pretty durable phone. It's come a long way since the nearly indefinite delays of the first generation that just kept messing up in real world usage, so you don't have to be as careful this time around.
The outside screen made of newer Gorilla Glass Victus does an excellent job of repelling scratches from standard pocket stuff, although the inner screen is a bit softer. A sharp fingernail can cause some scratches, so be very careful when the phone is unfolded.
It didn't resist scratches as well on the frame, but cosmetic damage aside, it was all still pretty functional. That frame also seems significantly more sturdy compared to the Fold and Fold 2 and didn't break nearly as easily.
