It may be something of a cliche to say that Mobvoi's TicWatch Pro 3 is the King of Wear OS but it's the truth, there simply isn't a rival for the crown at this point in 2021. That doesn't mean that the TicWatch Pro 3 is perfect, although the beginning of the H-MR2 update rollout will get it closer still thanks to it adding true support for Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4100 chipset that lurks within.

Updated April 30: The big update is now also rolling out to the TicWatch Pro 3 LTE, with the following changes and optimizations included:

  • Enable the notification sound
  • New screen brightness layout
  • Improved speed of the tilt-to-wake screen
  • Improved performance on Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 platforms
  • Improved the smoothness of sliding
  • Improved pairing speed when pairing with Android phones
  • Support turning off the essential screen’s auto backlight
  • Optimized the accuracy of off-body detection
  • Updated security patch

Some six months after its launch, Mobvoi's TicWatch Pro 3 is still the king of Wear OS thanks to it being the only Snapdragon Wear 4100-powered smartwatch running Google's platform. To narrow it down even further, it's the only Snapdragon 4100-powered smartwatch, period.

  • Optimized the media volume and the ringtone volume bar's display to match the actual volume.
  • Optimized the sorting of apps in Mobvoi Launcher.

  • Moved the “OK Google” switch from the watch's settings menu to the Google assistant settings.
  • Optimized the shutdown charging animation.
  • Updated security patch to 2021-03-05.

Bug fixes:

  • Fixed the issue that Auto-DND sometimes cannot take effect.
  • Fixed an issue where the screen may not lock when charging.
  • Fixed an issue where the Phone app might disappear in Mobvoi Launcher when pairing with an Android phone.
  • Fixed other discovered bugs.

It's been a few months since the H-MR2 firmware was supposed to roll out to Mobvoi's flagship Wear OS smartwatch but according to a Reddit post, it's finally rolling out to the first batch of devices. The update bumps the software version to PMRB.210407.001 and includes a new screen brightness layout, app launcher sorting, and of course, optimizes the Snapdragon 4100's performance.

If your TicWatch Pro 3 hasn't already notified you that an update is ready to install you might want to head over to connect the watch to its charging dock, then connect it to the phone via Bluetooth – the update should then start automatically.
