It's pretty rare that Comcast is in the news for anything good, but their wireless MNVO service, Xfinity Mobile, just made a big announcement that's going to earn some goodwill from customers. At least for a while.
Xfinity Mobile 5G service
5G isn't very widespread at this point, and that's just for bigger postpaid carriers. It's exceedingly rare to even see a prepaid operator to mention 5G, but Comcast is giving 5G service to their Xfinity Mobile customers in supported markets, regardless of data plans. This uses Verizon's network, so those customers will fall under Verizon's footprint, if their phone works on that particular network.
This works regardless of how much data you have, so customers with 1GB and unlimited data will be getting the improved network connectivity just the same. Even better? There's no 5G surcharge here; you still have to opt-in to use it, but at least as of right now, it won't make your bill go up each month.
Strangely enough, this officially makes Xfinity Mobile one of the best options for getting a 5G network on your phone. With those prices, it's arguably a better deal than putting up with Verizon directly. Go figure.
