Nokia 2.3 announced with dual cameras, two-day battery, and a commitment to software updates 4

HMD Global and Nokia have announced the Nokia 2.3, the latest smartphone in Nokia's line of budget-friendly devices. There's a lot of familiarity with Nokia's other phones, but a few key improvements that make this a really compelling mid-range offering at a great price.

The Nokia 2.3 features a large 6.2-inch full HD display, which Nokia touts as a great media experience. The two-day battery life is there to make sure that you can actually watch movies without draining your battery, and that's thanks to a large 4000mAh battery and Android's AI battery savings. Like some other devices, the Nokia 2.3 will learn how you use your phone and intelligently adjust settings and performance to get the most out of your phone.

The cameras are also getting some nice improvements, especially for a phone priced at 109 euros. It sports a dual-camera system that can take portrait-style photos, and Google Photos can adjust the blur effect after the fact, too. Nokia claims low-light performance is pretty decent here as well thanks to advanced image fusion and exposure stacking, which is how most other phones have gotten so much better at low-light photography lately.

Lastly, the Nokia 2.3 is guaranteed to get two years of OS updates and three years of critical security updates. Interestingly, though, Nokia says the phone is “Android 10 ready.” That doesn't mean it ships with Android 10, since you're actually getting Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. But supposedly that update shouldn't be far behind. Strange that it couldn't happen in time for the launch, though, considering how long Android 10 has been out.
